GOODWILL, OK - In game one Friday, Texas Wesleyan University lost to Oklahoma Panhandle State University 3-4.
The game started with Oklahoma Panhandle State taking an early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs.
Texas Wesleyan fought back in the fourth inning with a run of their own, but Oklahoma Panhandle State responded with two more runs in the same inning, extending their lead.
Texas Wesleyan showed resilience, scoring two runs in the sixth inning, narrowing the gap to just one run. However, they couldn't complete the comeback as Oklahoma Panhandle State's defense held firm.Â
Oklahoma Panhandle State's pitcher, Josh Doerr, earned the win, and Brandon Rodriguez sealed the win with a save. Â
In game two, the Rams Texas beat the Aggies 8-5.
TXWES seized an early lead in the second inning, with
Rody Garcia's double bringing in two runs.
They further capitalized on errors in the third inning, scoring six runs to extend their lead to 8-0. Oklahoma Panhandle State fought back, scoring two runs in the third inning and adding three more in the fifth, narrowing the deficit to 8-5.
Texas Wesleyan's offense was led by
Logan Silvertooth, who contributed with a double and three RBIs, while
Rody Garcia and
TJ Tomlinson also had good games.Â
On the pitching front,
Justin Ward secured the win for Texas Wesleyan with a solid performance, allowing five runs over four innings.
Jorge Carvajal closed the game, earning his seventh save of the season.
TXWES improved their record on the season to 22-15 overall and 10-7 in SAC play, while the Aggies moved to 12-24 on the season and 3-11 in conference play.
The Rams will close their weekend series against OPSU at noon in Goodwill, OK.
