BB: Rams Season Comes to End in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The opening round of the SAC Tournament was played on Friday at Jim Wade Stadium, featuring the fourth-seeded Texas Wesleyan University against sixth-seeded SAGU, falling to the Lions 4-3.

Texas Wesleyan took an early lead in the first inning, scoring three runs courtesy of Ryan Flores, Rody Garcia, and Chase Cos. However, SAGU managed to claw their way back into contention, with Xavien Thompson and Alejandro Garcia contributing crucial runs in the second inning, narrowing the gap to 2-3.

The game remained a battle as both teams battled through the middle innings, with neither side able to gain a true advantage. In the eighth inning, SAGU finally broke the deadlock, with Avery Chatman's RBI single bringing home the winning run.

After the loss, the Rams moved into the losers' double-elimination tournament bracket to play against seventh-seed Southwestern Christian, falling 5-4 in the afternoon game.

Southwestern Christian got off to a flying start in the first inning, with Jhors Gomez delivering a crucial two-RBI single, followed by Joseph Boone's RBI groundout, putting them ahead 3-0 early on. Texas Wesleyan managed to claw back with a run in the second inning, but Southwestern Christian extended their lead in the fourth, courtesy of Boone's RBI single.

However, Texas Wesleyan refused to back down, chipping away at Southwestern Christian's lead with runs in the fifth and seventh innings, courtesy of Cos and Giulio Monello. Despite their efforts, they fell short of a comeback, with Southwestern Christian's pitching holding in the late innings.

The Rams' Justin Ward faced some challenges early in the game, conceding four runs in just 1.2 innings of work and ultimately taking the loss.

With the loss, the Rams conclude their season, closing it out with a 27-20 record overall and 15-9 in SAC play.
