MSOC: Rams Earn First Victory of the Season

FORT WORTH, TX - On Monday, Texas Wesleyan secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Jarvis Christian College in a match at Martin Field.

The win marked Texas Wesleyan's first win this season, while Jarvis Christian fell to 0-1-0.

The game commenced with an early advantage for Texas Wesleyan as Matteo Todorovic scored the opening goal in the 6th minute, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. Despite their early setback, Jarvis Christian fought hard, creating several scoring opportunities but failing to convert in the first half.

In the second half, Texas Wesleyan extended their lead with a goal from Mathis Guffroy in the 59th minute, assisted by Louis Guffroy. The goal put Texas Wesleyan up 2-0 and put them in a commanding position. Jarvis Christian continued to press, and their persistence finally paid off in the 83rd minute when Roberto Morales scored, assisted by Santiago Gil, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.

Despite a late push from Jarvis Christian, including a few more shots on goal, Texas Wesleyan's defense held strong. The visitors got five shots with two on target, but Jesus Diaz, Texas Wesleyan's goalkeeper, made a crucial save to preserve the lead.

Both teams were disciplined regarding fouls, but yellow cards were issued to David Torres of Jarvis Christian and Fabricio Martinez of Texas Wesleyan.

The match saw Texas Wesleyan controlling possession and creating more chances, with eight shots and five on target.

The Rams will travel to play Hardin Simmons University for a scrimmage on Saturday before returning home to play Wiley College on Monday, with the match slated to start at 7:30 PM.
