MSOC: Rams Control Wildcats at Martin Field

FORT WORTH, TX - On Monday, Texas Wesleyan secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Wiley College.

The match began with an early breakthrough from the Rams, with Mathis Guffroy scoring the first goal just over five minutes in, assisted by Luis Gallegos. Guffroy doubled the lead five minutes later, again with an assist from Gallegos, putting Texas Wesleyan firmly in control.

The Wildcats struggled to find its rhythm, managing only four shots in the first half, all saved by TXWES goalkeeper, Alex Tonietto. The second half continued similarly, with Texas Wesleyan maintaining their offensive pressure. In the 71st minute, Fabricio Martinez extended the lead to 3-0 with an assist from Louis Guffroy.

Wiley's frustrations were evident, culminating in a yellow card for Anthony Ulloa in the 80th minute. Texas Wesleyan capitalized on their momentum, with Rudy Gonzalez scoring the fourth and final goal in the 87th minute, assisted by Francisco Navarrete.

In the match's final moments, Wiley College pulled one back with a goal from Stephen Gaskin in the 90th minute, avoiding a shutout but unable to alter the outcome. Despite the late goal, Wiley College's offensive efforts were stifled mainly by Texas Wesleyan's defense, with only five shots, three of which were on target.

Overall, the Rams outperformed the Wildcats, outshooting them 16 to 5 and winning ten corner kicks to Wiley's 3. This victory evens Texas Wesleyan's record at 2-2 for the season, while Wiley College falls to 0-3.

The Rams will play next at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against the University of Houston at Victoria at Martin Field.
