CROWLEY, TX - On Saturday, Texas Wesleyan University (3-0, 1-0) delivered a smothering performance against North American University (0-2, 0-1), securing a school record 80-0 victory.
Texas Wesleyan set the tone early. Following a 62-yard kickoff by Cristobal Salga and a 51-yard return by Jaysen Price, the Rams quickly capitalized. Carson Rodgers connected with Ernest Ceasar for an 8-yard touchdown pass at 12:14 of the first quarter.
Texas Wesleyan's offense was relentless, and they added another touchdown on a 2-yard run by Ceasar, making the score 21-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter continued the one-sided affair. North American's offense struggled with penalties and ineffective plays, leading to a short punt. Texas Wesleyan took advantage with a methodical drive, capped by Ceasar's 1-yard run despite a holding penalty.
The Rams extended their lead with a 30-yard field goal by Diego Chavarria and a 59-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to AJ Bobb, resulting in a 38-0 halftime score. North American had trouble gaining momentum, with their offense stalling throughout the first half.
Coming out of halftime, Texas Wesleyan continued its dominance. After a touchback on the kickoff, North American faced a series of negative plays and was forced to punt. Texas Wesleyan's ensuing drive culminated in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Michael Banks.
The Rams' defense also contributed, with Deylon Rodgers intercepting a pass and returning it for a touchdown, pushing the lead to 66-0. Texas Wesleyan added another score with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Cole Francis to Banks, and a touchdown run by Zykeelan Hadnot further widened the gap.
In the fourth quarter, Texas Wesleyan's offensive and defensive prowess remained evident. North American's drive, which started promisingly, ended with a missed 56-yard field goal attempt. The Rams capitalized on the opportunity with a 108-yard blocked field goal return by Jaysen Price.
Vernon Harrison added a 15-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 80-0. North American's final drive was stymied by sacks and penalties, leading to a series of ineffective plays and punts.

With a final score of 80, the Rams surpassed the previous record of 72 points, which was set against Texas College last season. Additionally, Texas Wesleyan achieved a notable milestone with their third consecutive win to start the season., tying the previous record number of wins to open a season.
Jaysen Price also made history by returning a missed field goal for a record-setting 108 yards, further highlighting the Rams' exceptional performance.
The Rams will next travel on the road to play against conference foe Oklahoma Panhandle State University at 6 p.m. next Saturday in Goodwell, OK.
