SHREVEPORT – Texas Wesleyan University (1-1) fell to #22 LSU-Shreveport (1-0) 68-47 in Sunday afternoon's contest.

In the first quarter, the Rams were the first to get on the board with a quick layup from Kennedy Holmes as the Rams and Pilots started the first quarter neck and neck. The Pilots made a layup with four minutes remaining and started to pull away from the Rams, creating a 12-4 lead. The Rams finished the quarter with a 6-4 run to end the first quarter 16-10 in favor of the Pilots.

In the second quarter, the Pilots went on an 11-4 run in the first six minutes to widen the gap to a 27-14 lead. The Rams went on a 10-5 run to end the quarter and close the gap to only eight with the help of Kameryn Phillips and Sophia Hurtado to bring the score to 32-24 going into the half. Phillips had accounted for seven of the Rams fourteen points in the second.

Coming out of the half the Pilots scored off a layup early and hit a three shortly after to take a 37-24 lead just minutes into the third quarter. The Rams hit a few key shots in the third quarter but unfortunately couldn't close the gap as the Pilots extended their lead to 19 points by a score of 52-34 going into the final quarter.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Pilots once again got started quick with two layups in the first minute. The Pilots had built up a 28-point lead on the Rams before Alaina Hill, Peyton Foster and Aniyah Sanford all scored in the paint to close the gap. Phillips led the Rams to end the fourth quarter with six points but ultimately fell 68-47 to the Pilots as the game came to a close.

Phillips led the Rams with 17 points and seven rebounds; she also was perfect from the line going nine for nine on free throws. Hurtado and Foster accounted for eight points each and had four rebounds a piece as well. The Rams struggled beyond the arc, going 0-21, but still shot 32% from the field.

The Rams return to action on Friday, October 31 to take on Texas A&M Texarkana at 7pm inside the Sid Richardson Center.
