FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan (4-1, 1-0 SAC) secured a 76-68 victory over Central Christian (KS) (5-2, 0-1 SAC) on Thursday at the Sid Richardson Center.
Texas Wesleyan's defense recorded six steals and four blocks, contributing to an 18-point lead in the first half.
The game commenced with Central Christian's Travis King scoring a layup, setting an early tone. Texas Wesleyan's
Khalil Turner sparked a response with a dunk and proceeded to hit two 3-pointers, contributing to an early 8-4 lead.
The home team extended their advantage significantly with a series of 3-pointers, including contributions from
Darrion Mctier and
Matt Nero, culminating in a 37-19 lead by the 4:26 mark. Despite a late surge from Central Christian, highlighted by Chris Whitten's scoring and a 3-pointer from Jevarrick Butler, Texas Wesleyan maintained control, closing the first half at 45-34, thanks to Montez Young Jr.'s last-second tip-in.
Central Christian's Butler opened the scoring in the second half with a 3-pointer, trimming Texas Wesleyan's lead to eight points. The Rams responded with a defensive stand, highlighted by

Central Christian kept the pressure on, with King contributing a layup at the 9:09 mark, assisted by Butler. However, Texas Wesleyan extended their advantage to 13 points with a layup by Nero at 3:03, maintaining their lead to secure a 76-68 victory.
Turner scored 18 points and collected 10 rebounds, including three 3-pointers and a block.
DaeVeon Scott contributed 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, adding two rebounds. Nero added 16 points, making 7 of 14 field goals, and recorded two steals.
Daylan Hamilton tallied 11 points and dished out three assists while securing six rebounds.
