MBB: Rams Return to Win Column in Bethany

BETHANY — Texas Wesleyan University (6-4, 3-3 SAC) secured a 70-58 victory over Southwestern Christian University (5-7, 3-4 SAC) on Saturday. Texas Wesleyan's defense was a key factor, forcing 20 turnovers and collecting 15 steals in the game.

Texas Wesleyan opened the first half with a strong performance, taking a 35-26 lead over Southwestern Christian by halftime. Turner was instrumental, contributing a 3-pointer at the 17:32 mark and adding a layup shortly after. Scott also proved effective, scoring twice in quick succession, with his second basket at 12:34 extending the Rams' lead to 16-8. Southwestern Christian attempted to keep pace, with Jalen Goar hitting two free throws at 7:52, but the home team's efforts were not enough to close the gap by the end of the half.

The Rams extended their lead in the second half and secured a 35-32 advantage over Southwestern Christian. Hamilton contributed significantly with multiple scoring plays, including a two-pointer at 18:01 and a three-pointer at 9:13. Nero added to the offense with a two-pointer at 16:39 and two technical foul free throws at the 5:00 mark. Williams responded for the Eagles with two free throws at 8:36, and Aiden Todd hit a three-pointer at 16:51. Texas Wesleyan's defensive efforts were highlighted by Young's multiple steals and rebounds throughout the half.

Turner scored 11 points, hitting 5 of 8 from the field, and recorded four steals. Young finished with 15 points, converting 7 of 10 shots, and collected seven rebounds. Hamilton added 12 points on 5 of 7 shooting, including two 3-pointers. Scott posted eight points and tallied five rebounds, while also contributing three assists and two steals.

Thre Rams return to action in  the Sid Richardson Center on Thursday at 2 p.m. against Hastings College.
