BB: No. 1 LSU Shreveport Tops Texas Wesleyan, 10-1

FORT WORTH – Texas Wesleyan Universitty (21-10) had a hard tine generating any offense against top-ranked LSU Shreveport (27-0), falling 10-1 at Sycamore Park on Tuesday afternoon.

LSU Shreveport took control early, scoring on a balk in the second inning before adding three more runs in the third. The Pilots extended their lead with a four-run sixth inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Anthony Swenda and a two-run triple from Austin Gomm.

Texas Wesleyan broke through in the bottom of the sixth when Brendon Vela tripled to center field, driving in Brandon Rincones for the Rams' lone run of the game.

Jacob Guzman (1-1) took the loss for Texas Wesleyan, allowing four runs—three earned—on three hits in 2.2 innings of work. The Rams' pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts but struggled with control, issuing seven walks and hitting six batters.

LSU Shreveport's J. Miller (2-0) earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts. The Pilots' pitching staff limited Texas Wesleyan to just two hits while striking out nine.

The Rams will look to bounce back in their weekend series on the road against Wayland Baptist University.
