MSOC: Rams Power Past Crusaders

FORT WORTH - Texas Wesleyan University (4-3-0, 0-0-0) _ Dallas Christian College (1-3-2, 0-0-0) by a score of _ in Wednesday night's contest.

The first half began with five shots from the Rams in the first 12 minutes. The Rams' aggressiveness finally paid off as Peter Tenorio found the back of the net in the 13th minute to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead. Fabricio Martinez helped facilitate the opening goal for the Rams, just three minutes later he did it again as he assisted a goal by Louis Guffroy to give the Rams a 2-0 lead in only the 16th minute. In the 18th minute, the Crusaders had a costly yellow card that allowed the Rams a penalty kick in the box. That penalty allowed Rudy Gonzalez to score his third goal on the season and lift the Rams to a 3-0 lead. Things were quiet for a while for the goalkeepers as both team's defensemen stood their ground. Late in the first half Joel Kisukulu extended the Rams lead once again with the help of Nathaniel Neang to give the Rams a 4-0 lead going into the half.

In the second half, the Rams continued to push the Crusaders with several shots to try and extended their lead further. The Crusaders found their first goal of the game on a penalty kick in the 59th minute. The Rams and Crusaders continued to push the ball down the field, but were both stopped before they could reach the net. The second half was at a stale mate as the Rams and Crusaders couldn't extend to close the gap, then in the 81st minute, Marco Montez scored to extend the Rams lead to 5-1. The Rams scored once again in the final seconds as Daniel Jiminez finished off the Crusaders 6-1.The Rams continued to push with several shots in the second half and had some solid goalkeeper play to keep the Crusaders at bay.

Gonzalez led the Rams offense with four shots, followed by Louis Guffroy with three. The Rams trio of goalkeepers held the Crusaders to only one goal on four shots. 

The Rams return to action on Tuesday, September 23 in Brownwood, TX to take on Howard Payne University.
