BETHANY — Sydney Alexander led Texas Wesleyan with 11 kills as the Rams controlled Southwestern Christian 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-7) in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener on Sept. 5, 2025, at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
The Rams (4-4, 1-0 SAC) showcased a balanced attack, totaling 43 kills with a .287 hitting percentage. Alexander anchored the offense, while Hanna Rubis added seven kills and Ruby Rumohr contributed 22 assists and four service aces. Emily Lewis bolstered the defense with 22 digs.
Texas Wesleyan controlled the match from the start. In the first set, they pulled away with an 18-6 run, fueled by Alexander's five kills. The second set saw the Rams capitalize on Southwestern Christian's eight errors, with Loes Peijnenburg adding five kills. The third set was a rout, as Texas Wesleyan hit .400 and held the Eagles to a -.067 hitting percentage.
Southwestern Christian (0-4, 0-1 SAC) struggled offensively, managing only 21 kills and committing 19 errors. Emery Hulme led the Eagles with seven kills, while Kloe Booker-Searcy added six. Megan Graham recorded 12 assists, but the team could not overcome Texas Wesleyan's relentless pressure.
The Rams' defense was stifling, recording 67 digs and five blocks compared to Southwestern Christian's 52 digs and two blocks. Texas Wesleyan also served seven aces to the Eagles' one.
Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Sept. 6 against Oklahoma City University, with the match scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on the road.
