FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan University  (10-5, 6-4 SAC) fell to Nelson University (13-3, 8-2 SAC) 82-74 on Monday at the Sid Richardson Center. Despite leading by 15 points in the first half, TXWES was unable to maintain the advantage as Nelson rallied with a strong second-half performance.

The game began with Nelson taking an early 2-0 lead after Ozavian Buford converted two free throws at the 19:45 mark. The Rams responded quickly, establishing a lead with Montez Young Jr.'s tip-in and Khalil Turner's 3-pointer, bringing the score to 5-2. A pivotal moment came when the Rams expanded their advantage with a series of successful plays, including a dunk by Turner and a three-point shot from Daylan Hamilton, who beat the buzzer to end the first half with a 47-32 lead.

The Rams' dominance in the paint, outscoring their opponents 28-8 in this area, was instrumental in building their substantial halftime lead.

Nelson mounted a strong comeback in the second half, overcoming an early deficit to secure an 82-74 victory over the Rams. Micah Clark was pivotal with a series of layups, including a critical basket at the 6:51 mark that put Nelson in the lead.

JJ Boling contributed significantly with multiple 3-pointers and sealed the game with free throws in the final seconds. Despite a late 3-pointer from Anthony Sierras at the buzzer, the Rams were unable to close the gap.

Daylan Hamilton posted 19 points and collected seven rebounds, leading the team with two 3-pointers and three steals. Young contributed significantly with 18 points and 12 rebounds, making nine field goals.

Daniel Oravbiere added seven points while recording three steals and five rebounds. Sierras finished with eight points, two 3-pointers, and seven rebounds, also securing three steals.
