OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas Wesleyan junior running back Ian Jernagin earned Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Offensive Player of the Week honors Monday after leading the Rams to a 34-27 road victory over Arkansas Baptist.
Jernagin, a Bakersfield, California, native, carried the ball 25 times for 131 yards and a touchdown while adding two receptions for 11 yards and another score. He averaged 5.2 yards per carry in the victory.
Jernagin accounted for two touchdowns in the win, contributing both on the ground and through the air as the Rams picked up the road victory.
The weekly honor recognizes Jernagin among the SAC's top offensive performers following his performance against Arkansas Baptist.
Wayland Baptist's X'Zavion Williams was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Louisiana Christian's Travis Adams earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Other offensive nominations included EJ Scott of Louisiana Christian, Steele Wasel of Langston and Dontevius Williams of Wayland Baptist. Defensive nominations included Texas Wesleyan's Jaden Fisher, Jermarian Jackson of Louisiana Christian, Mason Johnson of Langston and Kenny White of OUAZ. Langston's Elliot Janish was also nominated for Special Teams Player of the Week.
