FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Wesleyan University (4-5-4, 2-2-0 SAC) defeated Oklahoma City (4-5-3, 2-1-1 SAC) 1-0 on Tuesday. The Rams finished with a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal and made three saves to complete the shutout.
The Rams broke through at 41:35 when
Diogo Stefane converted a penalty kick to open the scoring. Earlier, the Rams generated a chance from
Marco Arduino that was saved by Vittorio Di Carlo at 29:17, followed by a
Peter Tenorio corner, before Oklahoma City pushed back with three shots and four corners from 36:50 to 39:15.
Noah Epler-McDonnell made saves on attempts by Sebastian Castillo and Joao Felipe Dellu during that stretch, helping the Rams keep the match scoreless.
Nestor Salazar sent a shot wide in the 41st minute, and Stefane added another shot on goal after his penalty as the Rams went into halftime ahead 1-0.
The Rams kept Oklahoma City scoreless through the second half and closed out a 1-0 win, with Epler-McDonnell making a save on Cooper Stephens' shot at 90:00 to preserve the final score. Earlier, the Rams created the first look of the half when Tenorio put a shot on goal in the 48th minute and followed with a corner kick seconds later. Oklahoma City generated pressure with second-half corners and back-to-back shots from Matheus Ambrozio in the 78th and 79th minutes, but the Rams answered with a late push of their own.
Henrique Soares forced a save in the 81st minute, Tyrece Grant added another saved attempt in the 86th, and the Rams earned corners from Soares and
Mehdi Def during that stretch before the match finished with the one-goal margin intact.
Stefane scored the game-winning goal, converted his penalty attempt and put both of his shots on goal. Epler-McDonnell recorded a shutout in goal, making three saves over 90 minutes.
Vittorio Di Carlo finished with five saves in 90 minutes, facing six shots on goal and allowing one goal. Matheus Ambrozio led Oklahoma City with three shots.
The Rams finish their homestand with a Saturday match up against Central Christian College (Kan.) at 3:30pm at Karen Cramer Field.
