WSOC: Rams and Stars Exchange Goals Late

FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Wesleyan University (3-6-3, 0-2-2 SAC) played Oklahoma City University (8-2-1, 3-0-1 SAC) to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday at Martin Field. Keira Cantu scored with an assist from Addison Hanner at 80:45, moving the Rams from a 2-1 deficit to the final 2-2 score.

The Rams kept Oklahoma City off the board through a pressure-filled first half, with Adriaa Hardy making six saves to send the teams into halftime tied 0-0. The Rams created an early set-piece chance with a Maribel Vargas corner in the fifth minute, but Oklahoma City put Hardy to work with saves on Kayleigh Haygood, Ali Daugherty and Amelia Horsford between 15:05 and 23:28. The visitors threatened again after Louyse Souza hit the crossbar at 30:40, and Hardy followed with two saves on Yami Ponce less than a minute apart and another on Daugherty at 36:38. The Rams earned a late corner from Alexa Resendiz at 42:37 and finished the half level despite Oklahoma City's attacking pressure.

Cantu brought the Rams level in the 81st minute, finishing off a Hanner assist at 80:45 to make it 2-2 after Oklahoma City had gone in front. Earlier, Vargas opened the scoring for the Rams at 58:56, and the Rams added a corner less than a minute later as they pushed after the breakthrough. Oklahoma City answered with goals in the 66th and 77th minutes, while Hardy kept the Rams within reach with multiple second-half saves. After Cantu's equalizer, Hardy stopped shots in the 89th minute from Ali Daugherty and Ryann Brooks, and the match finished tied 2-2.

Hardy recorded 12 saves, with six in each half. Cantu scored a match-tying goal and led the Rams with two shots, both on goal. Vargas scored an unassisted goal on her lone shot. Hanner added an assist.

The Rams stay home this weekend as they take on Central Christian College of Kansas on October 10 at 1pm. The Rams will be celebrating senior day that day as well.
