BB: Rams Throw Combined No-Hitter in Game Two Against Bethany

TOMBALL — Texas Wesleyan University (5-1) secured a commanding 15-0 victory over Bethany College (2-4) in game one on Sunday. 

A six-run fifth inning bolstered Texas Wesleyan's offense, while pitcher Noah Huerta allowed just two hits over seven innings for the shutout.

Texas Wesleyan defeated Bethany with a decisive 15-0 victory. In the first inning, the Rams took an early lead when Daniel Hernandez walked, stole second, and scored on an RBI double by Endi Jaquez, making it 1-0. 

The second inning saw the Rams capitalize on Bethany's defensive errors. Logan Silvertooth and Gabriel Supelveda reached base on back-to-back errors, allowing both to score on Xavier Martinez's play, which extended the lead to 3-0. 

Texas Wesleyan's offense surged in the fourth inning, adding five runs to their tally. After Jaquez was hit by a pitch and stole second, he scored on a sequence of plays that included a walk, a hit batter, and a two-RBI single from Jose Rangel. Hernandez then delivered a two-RBI single, cementing a 9-0 lead.

The fifth inning continued the onslaught with the Rams scoring six more runs. Jaquez led off with a single and eventually scored on a walk to Giuseppe Buttaci. Brendon Vela capped the inning with a three-run triple, bringing the score to 15-0.

The Rams maintained their advantage, adding one more run in the sixth inning while holding Bethany scoreless. Jaquez crossed home plate once again, following an error and a single by Erickson.

The game concluded after seven innings, securing a 15-0 win for Texas Wesleyan.

Huerta delivered a commanding performance on the mound, pitching a complete game shutout over 7 innings. He allowed only 2 hits and no walks while striking out 4 batters. Huerta faced 25 batters in total, maintaining a WHIP of 0.29 and recording 54 strikeouts out of 77 pitches. This effort secured him the win and marked a standout achievement with a complete game shutout.

Rangel recorded four RBIs on two hits while scoring three runs. Hernandez contributed with two RBIs and two runs, also drawing two walks. Vela hit a triple that brought in three runs. Huerta pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits over seven innings and striking out four.

The Rams secured a decisive 5-1 victory over Bethany College in game two match-up on Sunday. The win was marked by their pitching staff holding Bethany hitless across seven innings, while Jaquez significantly contributed with a three-run homer in the fourth inning.

Texas Wesleyan started the game with an early lead in the first inning. Vela's single to first base brought Boston Farris home, putting the Rams ahead 1-0. The Swedes responded in the second inning, scoring an unearned run on a wild pitch after Yan Ortiz reached on an error and advanced to third, tying the game at 1-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Texas Wesleyan broke the tie with a productive inning. Jaquez singled and stole two bases before scoring on Jack Erickson's double. Supelveda then grounded out, allowing another run to score. A wild pitch brought Erickson home, extending the lead to 4-1 by the end of the inning.

The sixth inning saw further action from Texas Wesleyan as Jaquez hit a solo home run, increasing the lead to 5-1. The Rams' defense held strong, preventing Bethany from scoring through the remainder of the game. Texas Wesleyan maintained their lead and secured the victory over Bethany.

Samuel Mendez pitched 3 innings, allowing 0 hits and striking out 2 batters, while issuing 2 walks and 2 hit-by-pitches. Dyaln Krause followed with 2 innings of perfect relief, facing 6 batters without allowing a hit, earning the win. Michael Pelosi closed the game with 2 more innings of hitless pitching, recording 3 strikeouts and securing the save. Overall, the Rams' pitching staff combined for a no-hit performance over 7 innings against the Swedes.

Jaquez made a significant impact with two hits, including a home run, while also stealing two bases and scoring twice. Erickson added a strong performance with two hits, one of which was a double, and drove in a run while crossing the plate once. Vela contributed with an RBI single, accounting for one of his team's runs. Mendez pitched three innings without allowing a hit, striking out two batters and surrendering no earned runs.

The Rams return to action this weekend with three games against Sterling College of Kansas with a double-header on Friday with first pitches scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m, and a single game on Saturday with noon first pitch.
