The Rams secured the victory by scoring 26 paint points and maintaining defensive pressure with three steals.
Texas Wesleyan opened the first quarter with a strong offensive display, capitalizing on turnovers to generate scoring opportunities.
Nala Richardson's steal and subsequent basket at 7:54 put the Rams ahead, contributing to a 5–4 edge.
Sophia Hurtado extended the lead with a three-pointer, assisted by
Aniyah Sanford, pushing the score to 8–4.
Throughout the quarter, the Rams maintained momentum, thanks in part to
Kameryn Phillips, who added consistent pressure with key baskets and free throws. The team recorded five assists, demonstrating effective ball movement. The quarter concluded with a 21–14 advantage for Texas Wesleyan, setting a firm foundation for the remainder of the game.
