TEN: Rams Battle at Home

ARLINGTON, TX - Texas Wesleyan University battled the University of Arkansas Fort Smith in Arlington on Friday afternoon. The men fell short with a score of 4-2 and the women stayed undefeated with a 5-2 victory.

In the men's matches, Texas Wesleyan secured the doubles point with victories on court one and court two. Wil Bayliss and Alejo Zurmendi clinched a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles against Birk Arwedahl and Eduardo Bribiesca, followed by Adriano Andrade and Malte Sommer's 7-6(5), 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles over Nathan Rigault and Simeon Latinchev. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith managed a win at No. 3 doubles, as Rodrigo Hoppe and Kevin Praphan defeated Yoni Danzic and Ahmed Elkassas 6-1.

In singles action, Texas Wesleyan's Yoni Danzic picked up a point at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Rodrigo Hoppe, leveling the match early. However, University of Arkansas Fort Smith responded with Eduardo Bribiesca's 6-3, 6-4 victory over Bayliss at No. 1 singles, followed by Nathan Rigault's 6-3, 6-4 decision against Sommer at No. 4 singles to push ahead.

The visiting team continued its momentum at No. 6 singles, where Kevin Praphan secured a 6-2, 6-2 win over Alejandro Capilla Aparicio. Arkansas Fort Smith clinched the match through Kivanc Bedir's 6-4, 7-6(5) triumph over Zurmendi at No. 5 singles. Andrade extended the competition for Texas Wesleyan with a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles over Arwedahl, but it wasn't enough to overturn the overall result.

In the women's matches, Texas Wesleyan secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Paulina Hudson and Zep Ege triumphed over Rayssa Domingues and Arianna De Bernardo, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles. Shelby Standokes and Mica Magday added a win at No. 3 doubles when their opponents forfeited, while the Lions claimed No. 2 doubles as Antonietta Bocache and Gracie Pereff defeated Kaja Brunzlow and Carla Arce Fernandez, 6-3.

In singles, Texas Wesleyan's Paulina Hudson picked up the first point at No. 2 singles with a straight-sets win over Rayssa Domingues, 6-3, 6-2. Arianna De Bernardo of the Lions responded by defeating Zep Ege at No. 1 singles in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Antonietta Bocache secured another point for the Lions, winning 6-2, 6-1 against Mica Magday.

Texas Wesleyan regained control with Carla Arce Fernandez's victory over Chiara Sobenes at No. 4 singles, completing a 6-0, 7-6(5) scoreline. Kaja Brunzlow then clinched the dual match for Texas Wesleyan at No. 5 singles, defeating Gracie Pereff 6-4, 6-1. The No. 6 singles match was left unfinished, with Meghan Connoly and her opponent not playing any sets.
