BB: Texas Wesleyan Dominates with Seven-Run Inning

FORT WORTH — Texas Wesleyan University (19-4, 6-3 SAC) secured a decisive 12-2 victory over Dallas Christian College (6-10) on Tuesday at Sycamore Park. The Rams' offense was highlighted by a seven-run seventh inning, sealing the win.

Texas Wesleyan opened the scoring in the first inning. Daniel Hernandez drew a walk and advanced on a single by Brendon Vela. Both runners successfully stole bases, setting the stage for Endi Jaquez, who singled to left field, bringing home Hernandez and Vela. Jaquez later scored on a pitcher's error, giving the Rams a 3-0 lead after the first inning.

In the second inning, Jonathan Pena reached on a fielder's choice and stole second base. Idelfonso Garcia drove him in with a single to right center, extending the lead to 4-0 through two innings.

Dallas Christian responded in the third inning as Colton Chavis and Kennedy Butler each singled. Gage Anderson and Wyatt Smith followed with singles, with Smith's hit scoring Chavis. Haden Sedatole added another RBI single, bringing the score to 4-2 in favor of Texas Wesleyan.

The sixth inning saw Texas Wesleyan add another run. Garcia singled and was driven in by a double from Jose Rangel, pushing the lead to 5-2.

A decisive seventh inning sealed the victory for the Rams. Vela singled, followed by Jaquez reaching on a fielder's choice. After Jaquez stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch, Jorge Herrera walked. Giuseppe Buttaci singled, scoring Jaquez. Jordan Alarcon then hit a single, which, combined with a catcher's error, allowed Buttaci and Herrera to score. Alarcon himself scored on a wild pitch. Jack Erickson's RBI single brought in Garcia, and Jaquez capped the inning with a two-run single, making it 12-2.

Texas Wesleyan secured a dominant 12-2 victory over Dallas Christian.

Michael Stewart pitched 3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs, while striking out 3 and walking none. Stewart threw 42 pitches, with 28 strikes, and he recorded a WHIP of 2.00. Rey Rivera, Jr. pitched 3 innings in relief, allowing 3 hits and no runs, striking out 1, and issuing 1 walk while throwing 38 pitches. Luka Zakman pitched the final inning, allowing 2 hits and striking out 2, finishing with a WHIP of 2.00.

Jaquez recorded four RBIs and scored two runs, contributing significantly to the offense. Vela tallied four hits, consistently reaching base and adding a stolen base to his performance. Stewart pitched three innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out three batters and securing the win. Garcia was strong at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, one RBI, and scoring twice while also drawing a walk.

The Rams return to conference action this weekend against University of Science & Arts on Friday and Saturday, with first pitch on Friday scheduled for noon.
