MBB: Rams Season Ends at the Dock, 70-66

SHREVEPORT — Texas Wesleyan (20-10) fell to LSU Shreveport (28-5) in a closely contested match-up, 70-66, on Saturday at The Dock in an NAIA Second Round game. Despite a strong second-half effort, the Rams were unable to overcome a 20-point first-half deficit.

The game commenced with LSU Shreveport taking a quick lead, highlighted by Emareyon McDonald's 3-pointer at 19:22, assisted by Hayden Brittingham. Despite Anthony Sierras' successful 3-pointer at 19:00, Texas Wesleyan struggled to keep pace.

The Pilots extended their advantage with multiple baskets, including a 3-pointer from Thaddeus Johnson at the 16:02 mark. A series of turnovers and misses by the Rams further enabled LSU Shreveport to build a commanding 19-point lead, capped by Khi Wallace's layup at 1:25. By halftime, the Pilots led 42-24.

The second half saw Texas Wesleyan mount a significant comeback attempt against LSU Shreveport. DaeVeon Scott led the charge, scoring consistently, including a key 3-pointer with 1:23 remaining to narrow the gap to four points.

Despite strong defensive efforts and timely scoring by the Rams, including a late jumper by Scott, LSU Shreveport maintained its lead on crucial free throws, securing a 70-66 victory. Sierras and Montez Young Jr. contributed important plays for Texas Wesleyan, but the team ultimately fell short in the closing seconds.

Scott scored 18 points and recorded six rebounds while adding three assists. Young Jr. matched Scott's scoring with 18 points, converting 8 of 10 field goals and grabbing six rebounds. Daniel Oravbiere contributed nine points and added three blocks to his stat line. Sierras posted nine points and collected two steals in the contest.

The game concludes the Rams 2025-26 season and run in the 2026 NAIA National Tournament.
