BB: Rams Fall at Sycamore Park to Pilots

FORT WORTH  — Texas Wesleyan University (23-5, 9-3 SAC) fell to Louisiana State University Shreveport (26-3, 12-0 RRC) with a final score of 20–2 on Tuesday at Sycamore Park. 

Carlos Sanchez of the Pilots scored on a passed ball after tripling to right center in the first inning, giving the visitors an early lead. After one inning, the Pilots led 1–0.

In the second inning, Jack Erickson singled to center field for Texas Wesleyan and eventually scored on a single by Giuseppe Buttaci. However, LSU Shreveport extended its lead with six runs in their half of the inning, highlighted by a Sanchez double that brought in two runs. The score stood at 7–1 in favor of the Pilots after two innings.

Texas Wesleyan added another run in the third inning when Jose Rangel scored on Endi Jaquez's sacrifice fly. LSU Shreveport responded with a run of their own, maintaining an 8–2 advantage after three innings.

In the fifth inning, the Pilots added another run with Spencer Sullivan scoring on a sacrifice fly. The score was 9–2 in favor of LSU Shreveport after five innings.

Sanchez homered in the sixth inning for the Pilots, extending their lead to 10–2 after six innings.

The seventh inning saw LSU Shreveport score 10 runs, aided by multiple hits and Rams errors, pushing their lead to 20–2 through seven innings.

The final score was LSU Shreveport 20, Texas Wesleyan 2.

Noah Huerta pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on one hit while striking out two batters. Michael Stewart contributed 3 2/3 innings, yielding six earned runs on six hits, with two strikeouts and three walks. Rey Rivera, Jr. threw for 1 1/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on four hits, including a home run. Gabriel Supelveda was on the mound for 1/3 inning, surrendering six earned runs on seven hits. Noah Crews closed the game with 1/3 inning of scoreless pitching, facing two batters without allowing a hit.

Vela recorded a double and a stolen base while drawing a walk. Jaquez contributed an RBI double and added a stolen base. Erickson scored a run and stole a base during his appearance. Buttaci delivered an RBI single but was picked off once.

The Rams return to action on Friday for a three game set against Nelson University, with first pitch of Friday's doubleheader at 1 p.m.
