OKLAHOMA CITY — Texas Wesleyan University (28-5, 13=4-4 SAC) emerged victorious with an 8-6 win over Oklahoma City University (13-19, 9-8 SAC) in game one at Jim Wade Stadium on Friday. The Rams capitalized on the Stars' four errors and scored four runs in the third inning to establish a commanding lead.
Texas Wesleyan's third inning was pivotal, as it took advantage of Oklahoma City's errors to score four runs.
Idelfonso Garcia walked, and Aidan Vega pinch ran, advancing to third on a walk to
Daniel Hernandez.
Brendon Vela's fielder's choice brought Garcia home, followed by
Endi Jaquez's bases-loaded walk, scoring Vega.
Jonathan Pena delivered a two-RBI single, bringing home Hernandez and Vela. The Rams led 4-0 after the third inning.
In the fourth inning, Texas Wesleyan added two more runs.
Marcos Carrion singled, and pinch runner Vega scored on an error after
Jose Rangel's single. Rangel also scored on a fielder's choice by Hernandez. Oklahoma City responded with two runs, trimming the lead to 6-2 through four innings.
The Stars closed the gap in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to make it a one-run game. However, the Rams responded in the seventh inning. After singles by

Giuseppe Buttaci doubled, driving in two runs and extending the lead to 8-5. Oklahoma City managed one more run, but Texas Wesleyan held on for an 8-6 victory. Final score: Rams 8, Stars 6.
Michael Pelosi pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks. He threw a total of 105 pitches, 60 of which were strikes, and finished with a WHIP of 1.73.
Ty Sansom came in relief, pitching 1 inning where he allowed one earned run on five hits, and threw three wild pitches without recording a strikeout. Rey Rivera, Jr. made a brief appearance, pitching 1/3 inning without allowing a hit or a run and was credited with the save.
Rangel contributed significantly on defense, recording seven assists from the shortstop position. Vega excelled on the base paths, scoring three runs as a pinch runner.
