FORT WORTH, TX - Texas Wesleyan (2-1) defeated Schreiner University (0-1) with a decisive 33-0 victory on Sunday. Texas Wesleyan's defense was dominant, intercepting four passes, two of which resulted in touchdowns. The offense capitalized on the turnovers with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, contributing to the team's scoring in each quarter. Schreiner University struggled to gain momentum, failing to score and amassing just 144 total offensive yards.

Texas Wesleyan opened the first quarter with a strong offensive push. Distinee Hernandez orchestrated a drive that advanced 59 yards, highlighted by a 46-yard pass to Ariel Duran, reaching Schreiner University's 10-yard line. Although the drive did not culminate in a touchdown, Texas Wesleyan's defense held firm, pushing Schreiner back with pressure that led to a turnover. Later in the quarter, Texas Wesleyan's Avah Alexander intercepted a pass from Emily Hernandez, setting up the team deep in Schreiner territory as the quarter closed. Texas Wesleyan maintained its lead, ending the quarter 6-0.

The second quarter began with a significant defensive stand for Texas Wesleyan. Starting from Schreiner University's 21-yard line, Hernandez connected with Ti'yanna Johnson for a short gain, but the drive stalled after a subsequent incomplete pass and a loss on a rush attempt. An interception by Schreiner University's Lacey Shook shifted possession, halting Texas Wesleyan's momentum. Schreiner University managed to mount a drive but was thwarted by a critical QB flag pull for a loss by Mikela Nunez. Texas Wesleyan's defense kept Schreiner from advancing significantly. The third quarter began with a significant shift in momentum for the Rams. Johnson intercepted a pass from Schreiner University's Brie Sosa at the SU30 and returned it 20 yards to the SU10. This set up a scoring opportunity, which Texas Wesleyan capitalized on with a 2-yard touchdown pass from Hernandez to Johnson. Following the touchdown, Schreiner University struggled to gain ground, while Texas Wesleyan's defense, led by Nunez and Karla Gaytan, contained their advances effectively. The Rams go on the road next week as they travel to Winfield, KS to take on Southwestern (KS) on Wednesday, April 1, at 3:30pm.
