KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Texas Wesleyan University faced two contrasting challenges on Friday at the Plaza Tennis Center, resulting in a win against Missouri Valley, followed by a loss to top-seeded Missouri Baptist.

In the first match, Texas Wesleyan University (11-9) started things early with a dominant 4-0 win against Missouri Valley College in postseason play. The Rams secured the victory by winning three singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

Texas Wesleyan captured the doubles point with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Wil Bayliss and Alejo Zurmendi secured a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Missouri Valley's Alexander Ballinger and Guilherme Silva. Meanwhile, Malte Sommer and Ahmed Elkassas clinched the point on court No. 2, defeating Bogdan Zakharov and Luca Stadtfeld, 6-2. Missouri Valley managed a win at No. 3 doubles, as Felix Ortola and David Schlageter defeated Carson Lajone and Alejandro Capilla Aparicio, 6-4.

In singles, Texas Wesleyan extended its lead with a decisive performance. Bayliss triumphed over Ballinger at No. 1 singles, 7-6(2), 7-6(7). Zurmendi continued the momentum by defeating Silva, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. Sommer then clinched the match for the Rams with a straight-sets victory over Zakharov, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.

The remaining matches at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles were left unfinished, with the final dual score standing at 4-0 in favor of Texas Wesleyan.

In the second match of the day, Texas Wesleyan fell to Missouri Baptist University 4-0. The Spartans secured the doubles point and clinched the match with straight-set singles victories at positions No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6. 

Missouri Baptist secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At No. 2 doubles, Strahinja Radanovic and Arkhip Tokmakov defeated Ahmed Elkasses and Malte Jon Sommer, 6-1. The No. 3 doubles match saw Ruslan Anurev and Omar Farahat claim a 6-1 victory over Al Capilla Aparicio and Carson Lajone. The No. 1 doubles match remained unfinished with William Bayliss and Alejo Zurmendi trailing 1-5 against Luca Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns.

In singles play, Missouri Baptist extended its lead with three straight-set victories. At No. 2 singles, Strahinja Radanovic defeated Alejo Zurmendi, 6-2, 6-2.
