FORT WORTH, TX – Erika Peterson has been announced as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Senior Women's Administrator, announced by Texas Wesleyan University.
Texas Wesleyan welcomes Peterson who will be helping the University transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. She has expertise in NCAA legislation, compliance administration, strategic planning, governance, policy development, and student-athlete success. She is passionate about fostering a culture of integrity while helping student-athletes and athletic departments achieve excellence in competition, the classroom, and the community.
Peterson will be overseeing the athletics compliance program and initiatives that support student-athlete success. She is responsible for the administration of NCAA compliance, eligibility certification, rules education, recruiting oversight, athletics financial aid, playing and practice season monitoring, and the development of institutional policies and procedures that promote integrity and competitive excellence. Peterson also leads efforts to enhance the student-athlete experience through leadership development, wellness initiatives, and cross-campus collaboration.
Prior to joining Texas Wesleyan, Peterson served as Deputy Director of Athletics for Academic Services and Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator at Wingate University. As a member of the department's executive leadership team, she directed compliance operations, oversaw academic services and student-athlete support initiatives, supervised assigned sport programs, and collaborated on strategic planning, policy development, and departmental operations.
Before Wingate, Peterson spent six years as Assistant Director of Compliance at Arizona State University, where she administered NCAA compliance for one of the nation's premier Division I athletics programs. Her responsibilities included athletics financial aid, playing and practice seasons, recruiting legislation, NCAA rules education, legislative interpretations, monitoring, and institutional compliance systems. She worked closely with coaches, student-athletes, and campus partners to ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations while supporting the daily operations of a nationally competitive athletics department.
Athletic Director Ricky Dotson was thrilled to bring in Peterson who had numerous years of leadership and would help the University transition to NCAA Division II with confidence.

An active leader within collegiate athletics, Peterson has served on numerous NCAA, conference, and national committees and is a member of Women Leaders in Sports. She previously served on the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee and chaired the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Southeast Regional Advisory Committee. She has also served on the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) Reasonable Standards Committee and multiple conference committees throughout her career.
