OKLAHOMA CITY — Texas Wesleyan sophomore linebacker
Ryan Seymour was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Digital Scoreboards Football Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Seymour, a sophomore from Houston, helped lead the Rams to a 56-20 victory over Texas College in the conference opener.
Seymour recorded seven total tackles, including four solo stops, while adding a sack for an 8-yard loss, 1.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
The Rams defense limited Texas College to 127 yards of total offense in the victory, with Seymour playing a key role in the defensive effort.
Seymour was one of three players recognized by the SAC for weekly football honors. Harrison Hackbarth of Oklahoma Panhandle State was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Eric Cline of OUAZ earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
