Townsend begins his first season (2021) as the Offensive Line coach for the Rams. Prior to joining the Rams, Townsend worked in professional football as an advanced scout for XFL Dallas (2020) and Assistant Director of Football Operations with the Memphis Express (2019).
Collegiately, Townsend was last with Texas A&M Commerce from 2015-2018 as the Associate Head Coach/DE Coach. He assisted the programs in numerous facets, including football operations and serving as the NFL liaison.
During the 2017 National Championship season under Townsend both Defensive Ends were named All Conference.Altogether, Townsend has coached four all-conference players on the defensive line while at Commerce.
Prior to his time with the Lions, Townsend served as an offensive intern at SMU in 2014. In 2013, he helped lead West Texas A&M to the regional finals as offensive line coach. He had two players earn first team all-region and all-conference honors, with one earning LSC offensive lineman of the year.
Townsend coached tight ends and offensive line at Navarro College from 2010-12, where the Bulldogs won three conference titles, two Heart of Texas Bowl titles, and the junior college National Championship in 2010.
Townsend played college football at East Texas Baptist, where the Tigers were the 2003 American Southwest Conference champions. He got his start in coaching as video coordinator and offensive line coach at ETBU in 2004. He was a high school state champion with Paul Pewitt HS in 1998.
Townsend and his wife Meredith have three children - Tripp, Ian, and Elise.
