David Murphy is in his fourth season (2020) as Director of Football Operations, Special Teams Coordinator, and Running Backs coach.
Murphy comes to Texas Wesleyan from YES Prep North Central and East End where he served as Athletic Director from 2012-2016 and head varsity boys soccer coach from 2009-2016.Â

His soccer team compiled a record of 112-17-40 during his tenure and won a State Championship in 2016. Under his direction, the athletic department produced 29 District Championships (UIL and TCSAAL), eight Regional Finalists, and two State Champions (Softball and Soccer in 2016).

Murphy’s coaching career began at Nolan Catholic High School when he served on Joe Prud’homme’s staff in 2005. He played for Prud’homme and Paul Duckworth from 2000-2003 as a safety, punter and kicker.Â
While at NCHS Murphy also played soccer and was coached by current Texas Wesleyan Head Women’s Soccer coach Josh Gibbs. Following his career at NCHS, he played one season as a punter at TCU.

Murphy received his bachelor of science in communications and human relations from TCU in 2007. Â He currently resides in Fort Worth.
