Coach Houston

Keith Houston

Keith Houston joins Texas Wesleyan Football as the first-year defensive coordinator, bringing a wealth of experience from the collegiate and high school levels.

A former collegiate football player in the prestigious Southeastern Conference, Houston played at Ole Miss from 2001-2007.

At Ole Miss, he was a four-year letterman from 2003-2006, contributing under the leadership of head coaches David Cutcliffe and Ed Orgeron.

After playing, Houston transitioned into coaching, starting at East Central Community College (2009-2012), where he served as the secondary coach and strength and conditioning coordinator.

He quickly made a name for himself as a defensive strategist, which led to his role as defensive coordinator at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama. Houston's defensive units at Faulkner were instrumental in securing back-to-back conference titles from 2012-2015.

Houston continued to build his coaching resume at the high school level, first as defensive coordinator at Chisholm Trail High School (2015-2018) and then as head coach at Marion High School (2018-2021).

During his tenure at Marion, Houston led the team to three consecutive playoff appearances, including an 8-3 record in his first season—Marion's best since 2011.

He returned to Chisholm Trail High School for the 2021-2022 season as defensive coordinator before moving on to Mesquite High School in 2023, where he served as safeties coach and strength and conditioning coach.

Keith Houston holds degrees in criminal justice and African-American studies from Ole Miss. He and his wife, Deidra, have three children: Miley, age 15; Keith Jr., age 13; and Delaney, age 5.
