MILES BRANDON | DEFENSIVE LINE COACH - STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING - NUTRITION

Miles A. Brandon, in his second season brings over 27 years of coaching experience to Texas Wesleyan University, having made significant contributions at various levels of football, including collegiate and high school programs.
 
2022-2023: Defensive Line Coach, Alabama State University (Division I FCS, Montgomery, AL) During his tenure at Alabama State University, the team achieved its first winning season since 2016 with a 6-5 record. Under his leadership, the defense was ranked 9th nationally at the FCS level and finished 2nd in the conference in scoring, allowing just 20.2 points per game. His defensive line was crucial in helping the team rank 3rd in total defense and 5th in rushing and passing defense within the conference. The unit recorded 24 sacks, with standout players such as DE Nelson Jordan, who led the conference with 11 sacks, and DT Andrew Ogletree, who ranked 19th with six sacks. Jordan signed with the Edmonton Elks of the CFL, while DT Brandon Gaddy ranked 21st in the conference with 12 tackles for loss and three blocked field goals. Jordan and Gaddy were invited to the HBCU Legacy Bowl All-Star game, and Gaddy participated in the Pittsburgh Steelers Mini Camp in 2023.
 
2018-2020: Defensive Line Coach, Sul Ross State University (Division III, Alpine, TX) At Sul Ross State University, Brandon developed a young defensive line composed of 21 freshmen, leading the unit to record 14.5 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss. Under his guidance, Fentrese Milligan earned Second Team All-ASC honors, finishing the season with 58 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.
 
2016-2018: Defensive Line/Linebackers Coach Hempstead High School Brandon coached four First Team All-District defensive linemen in 2016, with the unit leading the team in sacks. In 2017, he also coached a First Team All-District linebacker who led the team in tackles.
 
2015: Defensive Line Coach/Interim Strength & Conditioning Coach, Texas Southern University Brandon helped Texas Southern's defense achieve its best ranking since 2010, finishing 5th in the conference in total defense. He coached NFL prospect Amir Bloom and had a First Team All-SWAC defensive lineman, Derrick Lyles, who later signed with the Maine Mammoths of the Arena Football League.
 
2005-2014: Defensive Line Coach/Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, Prairie View A&M University At Prairie View A&M University, Brandon was instrumental in rebuilding a program that once had the nation's longest losing streak. From 2007-2010, the team enjoyed four winning seasons and won the SWAC championship in 2009, its first in over 45 years. The 2007 defensive line contributed significantly to the team's first winning season in four decades. In 2009, the defense was ranked 3rd nationally in rush and total defense. Under his guidance, Jermaine McGhee and Adrian Hamilton earned All-SWAC and All-American honors and signed contracts with NFL teams.
 
2000-2003: Defensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach, Lane College (Jackson, TN) Brandon served as the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Lane College, where his defense consistently ranked in the top three in total defense, rush defense, and pass efficiency in the SIAC. In 2001, he was promoted to Head Coach, leading the team to its most significant win in school history against an FCS opponent, the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
1995-2000: Defensive Line Coach/Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, Morehead State University (Morehead, KY) At Morehead State University, Brandon's defensive line consistently ranked among the top three in rushing, total defense, and sacks. His efforts contributed to the school achieving its first winning season in 1996, followed by three more winning seasons.
 
Throughout his career, Miles A. Brandon has demonstrated a commitment to developing top-tier defensive units and mentoring players to reach their full potential on and off the field.
