Quincy Butler

Quincy Butler is in his fourth season (2020) as defensive backs coach under Head Coach Joe Prud’homme.
 
Butler brings a wealth of experience to Texas Wesleyan after an illustrious playing career at TCU, five seasons in the NFL, and three more in the CFL.
 
At TCU, Butler was a 1st-team All-Mountain West Conference cornerback in 2005.  He twice earned conference Defensive Player of the Week honors and holds the school record for longest interception return for a touchdown at 99 yards.  In addition, Butler was an All-American in the Indoor Track & Field 4x100 relay (2005).  He also set a Mountain West Conference record in the indoor 4x400 relay (2005) and a Conference USA record in the outdoor 4x400 (2004).
 
Butler’s NFL career began in 2006 when he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.  In 2007 he received a game ball during the Cowboy’s NFC East Division Championship run.  Butler went on to play for the St. Louis Rams as well as the New Orleans Saints before joining the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in 2012.
 
In his first season in Calgary, he was named Player of the Game in the Western Finals.  He later helped Calgary to a Gray Cup Championship in 2014.
 
Butler has been very active in various charitable efforts.  He received a certificate and a State Flag from Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. for his work with youth in Rio Grand Valley in South Texas.  He has served as a guest speaker at various events such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and San Antonio Teen Summit.  He has also helped raise funds for Rhythms of Hope which helps build schools and libraries in Uganda, helped build playgrounds in inner-city St. Louis, and assisted The Heart Truth for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
 
Butler received his associate’s degree from Tyler Junior College and a bachelor of arts in general studies from TCU.  He currently resides in Fort Worth with his son Brycen (1).
