2016-17:  Led the Texas Wesleyan University Men's Basketball Program to the NAIA Division I National Championship as the point guard under Head Coach Breenen Shingleton...matched the school record with 263 assists on the season...led the nation in assists and assists per game (7.514) while ranking third in assist/turnover ratio (3.288) and steals (79)...in one stretch, dished out 50 consecutive assists without committing a turnover...averaged 8.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game...posted five double-doubles, while frequently approaching a triple-double.

Prior to Wesleyan: Played basketball for Head Coach James Whitford at Ball State University...matched Ball State's school record for games played in a single season as he competed in all 35 games (including 18 starts) while averaging 19 minutes per game for the Cardinals as a junior in 2014-15...paced the team with 95 assists and 38 steals while helping Ball State to a record of 21-14...began his collegiate career at Texas State University where he played all 31 games as a freshman and posted 39 assists and 26 steals...transferred to San Jacinto College where he was an honorable mention All-Region selection while helping his team to a 28-6 record and a No. 12 national ranking in the season's final poll.

High School: Graduated from West Oaks Academy in Orlando, FL, and then spent one year at Queen City Preparatory Academy in Charlotte, NC where he averaged 25 points and 5 assists per game while helping Queen City to a No. 14 national ranking in 2011-12.

Personal: Born Naiel Smith on October 27, 1993, in Miami, FL...son of Deanne Malcolm...has four brothers, Dyinde, Shiloh, Imo, and Sani, and three sisters, Malyia, Makiba, and Mecca...is majoring in liberal studies.
