In the 2025 season, Sean Smith made significant contributions to Texas Wesleyan's football team, participating in ten out of the team's twelve games. As a key player in the return game, Smith led the team with a longest kick return of 97 yards against OUAZ on November 8, 2025, which resulted in a touchdown. This impressive return was part of his season total of 327 kick return yards on 11 attempts, leading the team in both categories. Smith's performance included a 35-yard return against Oklahoma Panhandle State on November 1, 2025, and a 50-yard return in the victory over Louisiana Christian on October 11, 2025.
In addition to his special teams' contributions, Smith was active in the passing game, amassing 447 receiving yards on 32 receptions. His standout receiving performance
came against Langston on October 25, 2025, where he recorded a season-high 107 receiving yards on seven receptions. He also caught his only receiving touchdown of the season against Louisiana Christian, highlighted by a 75-yard reception.
Smith also had a presence in the rushing game with four attempts, totaling six yards. Though his rushing contributions were limited, his overall versatility was evident throughout the season. His dual-threat capability as both a receiver and return specialist made him a valuable asset to the Texas Wesleyan offense and special teams.
