After serving as the Rams’ Associate Head Coach during the 2016-17 season, Garnett is rejoining the program as the Director and Coach of the Developmental Team as well as the program's Recruiting Coordinator.
Garnett assisted the Texas Wesleyan program in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, helping the Rams to back-to-back Sooner Athletic Conference Regular Season championships. In 2017, while serving as the program’s Associate Head Coach, Garnett helped the Rams to the program’s second NAIA Division I National Championship.
Garnett began his coaching career at the high school level before moving into the collegiate ranks including head coaching stops at McMurry University and Wayland Baptist University. During his time as the head coach at McMurry, Garnett led the program to its first American Southwest Conference Championship and NCAA National Tournament appearance in over ten years, and he was named ASC Coach of the Year.
During his tenure at Wayland Baptist University, Garnett orchestrated a turnaround leading the Pioneers back to the NAIA National Tournaments in 2014 and 2015 after inheriting a team that won only nine games prior to his arrival. The 2014-15 season at Wayland produced a 27-6 record and the school’s first Sooner Athletic Conference Championship, while Garnett was named SAC Coach of the Year.
Garnett is also the owner, founder and director of MGBasketball Instruction. Since MGBasketball’s inception in 2007, Garnett has developed his
MGBasketball Guard School and Post School camps that are held across the State of Texas each summer for both girls and boys. Moreover, Garnett runs Skill Development Academies and training opportunities throughout the year. Along with skill development training, Garnett offers “One Motion Shooting Instruction” to individuals and groups.
In 2017, Garnett unveiled
"The Extra Pass," which is a website devoted to providing quality coaching resources to the basketball community.

Garnett graduated magna cum laude from Wayland Baptist University with a B.A in English and holds a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry from Wayland Baptist University. He and his wife Anna, have three daughters, Faith (10), Grace (8), and Hope (5).
