Jose Salazar

Jose Salazar hails from Cleburne, Texas, and is serving in his first season as assistant coach to the women’s program. Salazar is a distinguished alumnus of Cleburne High School (Class of 2014), where he excelled as a four-year letterman in soccer.

During his high school career, Salazar garnered numerous accolades, including All-District and All-Johnson County honors. In 2012, he was named All-County Offensive Newcomer of the Year. As a senior, he captained the team, leading Cleburne High School to one of the most successful seasons in the boys’ soccer program’s history, advancing three rounds in the playoffs and earning First-Team All-District and All-Johnson County selections.

In 2019, Salazar served as a volunteer assistant coach at Texas Wesleyan University under then Head Coach Cole Sweetser and Associate Head Coach Dejan Milosevic, gaining valuable experience in collegiate coaching. From 2020 to 2023, he returned to his alma mater, Cleburne High School, as head coach, where he revitalized the program, guiding the team to its first playoff appearance in five years within three seasons.

From 2023 to 2025, Salazar served as an assistant coach for the Texas Wesleyan University Men’s Soccer program. In the 2024 season, he played a pivotal role in leading the Rams to a 10-6-3 record, securing fourth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference. That same year, under his guidance, Mathis Guffroy became one of only six NAIA All-American athletes in Texas Wesleyan men’s soccer history.

Currently, Salazar serves as an Academy Director at Sting Soccer Club, where he continues to develop young talent. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master’s degree in Coaching Education from Ohio University.

Additionally, Salazar is a licensed USSF National B License holder, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence in soccer coaching.
