Wade Morgan enters his second year (2026-27) as Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs at Texas Wesleyan University with more than a decade of collegiate coaching success, a national reputation for player development, and a proven record of elevating programs into championship-caliber teams.
In his first year leading TWU Tennis, Morgan made an immediate and historic impact. Both the men’s and women’s programs earned ITA National Rankings inside the Top 25, while the women’s team finished inside the Top 20 nationally. He coached Texas Wesleyan’s first-ever All-American, Paulina Hudson, and guided the women’s team to a 20-4 overall record in team tennis, the best mark in program history. For his outstanding debut season, Morgan was named the Heart of America Conference Women’s Coach of the Year. Under his leadership, TWU Tennis has reestablished itself as a rising force, with momentum that continues to build.
Morgan arrived at Texas Wesleyan after eight standout seasons at Dallas Baptist University, where he led the Patriots to historic heights. Across both programs at DBU, he amassed 231 total victories, bringing his career total to 351 collegiate head coaching wins at the time of his arrival at TWU.
In his final season at DBU, Morgan guided the Women’s Tennis team to a program-best 23-4 record, capturing the program’s first-ever Lone Star Conference Championship and first-ever South-Central Regional Championship. The Patriots advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II National Tournament and achieved a program-record No. 11 national ranking. For his leadership, Morgan was named the 2025 ITA Division II National Women’s Coach of the Year and earned ITA South Central Region Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season. The DBU men’s program also posted a winning record in his final year at the helm.
Over eight years at DBU, Morgan’s teams were defined by consistent excellence and steady growth. The women’s program produced eight consecutive winning seasons, while the men’s team recorded winning campaigns in five of eight years. His student-athletes earned two NCAA All-American honors, 34 All-Conference selections, and eight ITA All-Scholar Team awards, along with a South-Central Regional Doubles Title. DBU Tennis also received the ITA South Central Region Community Service Award for three consecutive years, reflecting the programs’ sustained impact off the court. Morgan became the first coach in DBU history to qualify multiple singles players and a doubles team for the ITA Cup Fall National Tournament in four straight seasons. In his first year at DBU, he was named the National Christian College Athletic Association National Coach of the Year after leading the women’s team to the NCCAA Team Championship.
Before DBU, Morgan revitalized both programs at Schreiner University from 2011-2018, totaling more than 100 team victories. Highlights included the women’s first appearance in the SCAC Conference Finals and the men’s highest regional ranking in program history. He was selected SCAC Women’s Coach of the Year in 2014 following the team’s breakthrough run, and in his final season the Schreiner men earned a Top 10 West Regional ranking with multiple players entering the regional rankings. During his tenure in Kerrville, Morgan developed 40 All-Conference honorees and 32 Academic All-Conference selections.
A committed mentor and campus leader, Morgan has also served as a Residence Director, SAAC Advisor, and Athletics Compliance Officer. He is known for building programs grounded in integrity, discipline, and high standards - where student-athletes excel academically, serve their communities, and compete at the highest levels of collegiate tennis.
Wade and his wife, Gloria, are the parents of twin boys, Jackson and Lanning, and reside in Mansfield, Texas.
