Jasna Rather

Jasna Rather is in her 16th (2021-22) season as head coach at Texas Wesleyan. 

In her first season (2006-07), Rather teamed with Keith Evans as Co-Head Coach and led the Rams to a sweep of all seven NCTTA National Championships. Rather was at the helm for the last  eight of the school's incredible 11 consecutive Coed Team titles that stretched from 2004-2014.

During her tenure, the Rams have amassed 51 national titles including 11 Coed Team titles and nine Women's Team titles.

Rather also played six seasons at Texas Wesleyan. After competing in five NCTTA Natoinal Championships, she claimed three women’s singles national titles. Rather also helped the University of Michigan to a Collegiate National Team Championship in 1998.

A member of the United States National Team since 2000, Rather has made four trips to the Olympic Games (two with the U.S. and two with the former Yugoslavia Olympic Team). In 1988 she took home the bronze medal for Yugoslavia in Seoul, South Korea.

Rather’s other international titles include: two North American women’s doubles championships (2001, 2005), European Champinoships in women’s doubles (1992) and mixed doubles (1988), Pan-American women’s doubles (2003), Balkan Games women’s singles and doubles (1991), and Mediterranean women’s singles and doubles (1991).

Rather became a United States citizen in 1999 and is now a dual citizen of the U.S. and Croatia. She is a six-time U.S. Champion, winning women’s singles titles in 2003 and 2005, women’s doubles titles in 2001, 2002, and 2003, and a mixed doubles title in 2003.

Born in Yugoslavia, Rather also won over 20 Yugoslavian National Championships in women’s singles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and team events.

Rather earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Oakland University in Rochester, MI, and holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas Wesleyan University.
