Jorge Rodriguez

Jorge Rodriguez who is entering his second season as the Head Coach of the Texas Wesleyan University Beach Volleyball program, brings extensive international experience to the team. 

A native of Colombia, Rodriguez played at the highest levels of volleyball in his home country from 2007 to 2011. He holds coaching certifications from the FIVB, and USAV, and has received certifications in Colombia, Spain, and Germany.

Rodriguez attended INCCA University, where he played volleyball while earning a degree in Sports Science. He continued his education at UDCA University, receiving a post-graduate degree in Sports Training, helping his team win a regional championship, and finishing as a runner-up in the ASCUN National College Tournament.

Since beginning his coaching career in 2005, Rodriguez has successfully coached club, high school, and university-level teams. As head coach at FUAC University, his team reached the regional finals. At UDCA University, the women’s beach volleyball team earned a 3rd place regional finish and qualified for the national finals. Rodriguez also led Bogota’s beach volleyball team to nationals and served on the staff for Colombia’s national beach volleyball team.

After relocating to the United States in 2018, Rodriguez joined Cedar Valley College as an assistant coach, helping the team reach the conference semifinals in 2021. Additionally, Rodriguez served as a club coach and director in the North Texas Region. In the 2022 season, Rodriguez acted as a volunteer assistant coach for Stephen F. Austin’s beach volleyball team, contributing to the team’s advancement to the second round of the Sun Belt Conference.

In the 2024 season, under the leadership of first-year head coach Jorge Rodriguez, the Texas Wesleyan women's beach volleyball team finished 3-12 and saw several standout performances recognized at the conference level. 

Holland Hancock and Emily White made an immediate impact in their first season with the program, earning Second Team All-CSC honors. In addition, Emily Lewis and Andrea Malek were recognized for their strong play, receiving Honorable Mentions on the All-Conference Team.
