Patton is highly decorated as both a world class athlete and as a coach. Patton is a three-time Olympian and two-time world champion sprinter as well as a talented horizontal jumper. His resume includes personal bests of 9.89 in the 100m, 22.03 in the 200m, 8.12m (26’ 7.5”) in the long jump and also triple jumped over 53 feet in junior college. He was a two-time Olympic silver medalist, a two-time World Championships Gold medalist, a World Championships silver medalist, a 10-time NCAA All-American at TCU and an 8-time JUCO All-American at Garden City Community College. Patton has many local ties including graduating from Lake Highlands High School in Dallas as well as coaching club and high school athletes in the local area.
Patton comes to Texas Wesleyan after previous experience coaching experience with USA Track and Field in 2015, the 2015 IAAF World Relay Championship teams, the 2015 NACAC Senior Championship relay teams where he won ten medals in the process. Patton has also been the head track coach at All Saints Episcopal school in Fort Worth where the program broke school records in the high jump, 4X100 meter race, and placed fourth in the 2015 state championship which is the highest place finish in the school's 70-year history.
