Phil Esposito enters his 5th year (2026-27) on staff. He started as a volunteer assistant coach in 2022 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2025.

Since joining the staff, Texas Wesleyan has qualified 44 athletes to the National Tournament with 18 individuals earning All-American honors.

Prior to joining the Rams, Esposito coached with the successful All-American Wrestling Club in Fort Worth, Texas. During his time with the club, the club has produced 57 All-Americans, including two-time NAIA National Champion and former Ram Lexie Basham. Additionally, the club sent 26 athletes off to wrestle in college.

While completing his doctoral studies at the University of Michigan, Esposito worked as a volunteer assistant coach with Eastern Michigan University. Before moving to Michigan, he spent two years coaching at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Esposito was a four-year letter-winner for NCAA Division II Truman State University (Mo.) from 2000-2005. He earned Academic All-American honors in 2001 & 2002.

Away from coaching, Esposito is a professor and undergraduate program director in the Department of Kinesiology at Texas Christian University.
Esposito and his wife, Kerri, were married in 2012 and currently live in Fort Worth with their dog and two cats.
