Charles Welde is entering his second season (2026) as the offensive line coach at Texas Wesleyan University. After the 2025 season, the Rams placed 3 of Coach Welde's offensive linemen on the Sooner Athletic Conference All-Conference list.
Coach Welde's coaching career has spanned 27 years, 5 states, and 5 conference championships. Before Texas Wesleyan, Coach Welde lived in Arizona where he was the Offensive Line Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Lake Havasu High School. LHHS made the playoffs every year Coach Welde called the offense including a conference championship in 2021 and a trip to the state semi-finals in 2022. The 2022 team set school records for points per game and yards per game. Also that year, the LHHS running back led the state of Arizona in rushing behind Coach Welde's offensive line.
Prior to living in Arizona, Coach Welde spent three years in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois as the General Manager of the Bloomington Edge professional indoor football team. He oversaw all operations of the organization including player personnel, marketing, sales, and football operations.
Before his time in Illinois, Coach Welde was the offensive coordinator at Victor Valley College in Victorville, California. In his three years there, VVC won 25 games including one undefeated season and two conference championships. Coach Welde's offense was ranked in the top 20 nationally each year.
Coach Welde's other stops include College of the Canyons in Southern California, Los Angeles Valley College, U.S. Grant High School in Oklahoma City, and Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma. Coach Welde ran track at the University of Oklahoma where he also got his degree and master's degree. Coach Welde and his wife Shawnn have been married for 26 years. They have two daughters, Brynn and Raven.Â
