Kevin Long

Kevin Long enters his fourth season as head coach of the Texas Wesleyan Men’s Golf Team.

In his first three seasons, he led the team to 12 tournament victories, including the 2024 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Championship and a runner-up finish at the 2024 NAIA National Championship.

His players have earned 10 individual titles, including the 2024 and 2025 SAC Conference Championships, and the 2024 NAIA National Champion medalist, along with eight SAC All-Conference Players, seven NAIA All-Region Players, five NAIA All-Americans, and finalists for prestigious awards such as the NAIA Player of the Year and Phil Mickelson NAIA Outstanding Freshman Award.

Long’s teams have consistently ranked in the NAIA top 10, finishing the 2024-25 season at No. 6. Academically, his teams excel, producing 15 Academic All-Americans, earning SAC All-Academic Team honors each season, and maintaining a team GPA above 3.5 every semester. Long’s leadership has been recognized with the 2023-24 SAC Coach of the Year, 2023-24 West Region NAIA Coach of the Year, and finalist nods for the Dave Williams NAIA Coach of the Year in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Before joining Texas Wesleyan, Long served as Executive Director of First Tee Fort Worth for 17 years, during which the organization expanded to serve over 50,000 youth annually across four counties, providing life skills education through golf. He oversaw the construction of two Ben Hogan Learning Centers and the Briscoe Program Location. His tenure earned the First Tee Chairman’s Award, Master Executive Award, and the 2013 Renee Powell Diversity Award. Long also contributed to the First Tee Network through educational and professional development initiatives and chairs the Fort Worth Junior Golf Association’s annual championship, the nation’s largest free junior golf tournament.

Previously, Long had a 25-year career as an educator, coach, and administrator across five schools in four states, achieving a New Jersey Prep State Basketball Championship, three regional championships, and a Georgia Independent School Athletic Association State Golf Championship.

His basketball program at The Hun School was named Program of the Decade for the 1990s, and his 2000 State Championship Golf Team was inducted into the Augusta Prep Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.

A Fort Wayne, Indiana native and multi-sport athlete, Long holds a Bachelor’s in Physical Education from Indiana University and a Master’s in Educational Administration from Rider University.

He resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Erin, an elementary school teacher, and their two college-aged sons.
