Richard Best

  • Title
    Volunteer Mental Performance Coach
Richard Best serves as an executive coach and consultant with over 15 years of extensive experience coaching senior executives and high-potential leaders.

Best specializes in developing leadership behaviors and emotional intelligence. His focus on neuroscience helps clients strengthen their interpersonal effectiveness and leadership impact, resulting in increased opportunities for their career success.

While volunteering at The First Tee of Fort Worth, Best worked with the Executive Director and the Junior Advisory Committee. Through his work with young leaders and golfers and his use of neuroscience tools, Best saw the importance of emotional intelligence both on and off the golf course. His use of neuroscience tools with Coach Long brought him to work with the team.

In the 2023-2024 season, Best worked with the team to help them strengthen their mental resilience during play. The team’s players indicated their success during their SAC Conference win, and a runner-up finish in the National Championship was enhanced by their ability to maintain a solid mental balance in the face of various demanding environmental conditions.

In addition to working with Texas Wesleyan, Best has and continues to work with D3 college golfers on mental performance and with golfers playing or attempting to play professionally.

Best holds a Master of Education degree in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Paramedic Technology from Austin Community College.

An avid golfer since the early 90s, Best carries a six handicap and is reportedly on speed dial for his part-time golfing group for mental crashes during weekend rounds.
