Wade Regas enters his first season (2027) as the assistant baseball coach of Texas Wesleyan. Regas comes to the Rams after establishing himself as one of the top recruiting coordinators and player development coaches in the junior college ranks.
Over six seasons as a recruiting coordinator and assistant baseball coach at Odessa College (2017-19), Grayson College (2019-22), and Blinn College (2022-23), Regas helped his programs compile an outstanding 202-94 overall record while consistently competing among the nation's elite. His teams were ranked inside the NJCAA Top 20 during every season of his coaching career, including earning the No. 1 national ranking, and advanced to the postseason five times. In 2023, he helped lead Blinn College to a semifinal appearance at the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Widely respected for his recruiting and player development, Regas has coached more than 109 student-athletes who advanced to NCAA Division I programs and has played a key role in the development of 21 Major League Baseball Draft selections, who have combined to earn more than $6 million in signing bonuses. His former players have continued to excel at every level of collegiate baseball, earning numerous conference, regional, national, and professional honors.
Among the most notable accomplishments of players developed under Regas is 2022 Golden Spikes Award winner Ivan Melendez, who also captured the Dick Howser Trophy, Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger of the Year Award, Baseball America Player of the Year, D1Baseball Player of the Year, Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year, ABCA Player of the Year, Rawlings/Perfect Game National Player of the Year, and Big 12 Conference Player of the Year honors.
Throughout his coaching career, Regas has mentored 109 NCAA Division I signees, four NJCAA All-Americans, thirty NJCAA All-Conference selections, 11 NJCAA All-Region honorees, two NJCAA Conference Players of the Year, 38 NJCAA All-Star Game selections, and five NJCAA World Series All-Tournament Team selections. While coaching players that transferred to NCAA, Regas coached four NCAA All-Americans, eight College World Series participants, two NCAA National Champions, numerous NCAA conference Players of the Year, First Team All-Conference selections, All-Region honors, and national award winners across the SEC, Big 12, Conference USA, American Athletic Conference, Southland, Mountain West, Missouri Valley, Pac-12, and Lone Star Conference. Regas has also been asked to coach in the NJCAA All-Star Game twice in his coaching tenure and has two former players that now play for the Australian National Team.
Known for his relentless recruiting, player development expertise, and ability to prepare student-athletes for success at the next level, Regas has built a reputation for developing championship-caliber players while helping programs compete for conference titles and national championships.
