SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (8-3, 2-1 RRAC) suffered its first conference loss on Thursday. Our Lady of the Lake University (6-0-1, 1-0-1) made a single goal stand up for a 1-0 win.
OLLU outshot Texas Wesleyan 17-7 on the day. Each team took just one corner kick. The Rams were called for five fouls and one yellow card while the Saints were penalized twice with no cautions.
The lone goal of the game came in the 66th minute when Hannah Collazo scored off an assist from Hailey Olden.
Katy Houchin made six saves in the loss while Megan Ochoa needed just three saves to hold the shutout.
“We played well enough to win today,” commented head coach Josh Gibbs. “This was a great game that could have gone either way, but OLLU deserved it. I thought they were better on the day, but not by much. We made the one big mistake that changed the game.”
The Rams will continue their RRAC road trip on Saturday, when they travel to Brownsville, TX, to take on UT-Brownsville. That game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
