Fort Worth, Texas- The Texas Wesleyan volleyball team played host to Tarleton State University Tuesday night in hopes to rebound after losing their past two games. Tarleton State eventually ended those hopes and served the Lady Rams their third straight loss defeating Texas Wesleyan, 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25,20 25,10), at the Sid Richardson Center.
Tarleton State pulled out to a comfortable lead mid-way through the first set trying to set the tone for the match. The Lady Rams tried to claw their way back into the set but were unable to overcome the strong attack style of play Tarleton State was dishing out and the squad ended up dropping the first set.
The second match stayed even throughout majority of play with the set coming down to the wire as Texas Wesleyan had the advantage with the win due to a late error by Tarleton State.
After topping the Lady Rams in the third set, Tarleton State powered away in the fourth match leaping out to an 18-6 lead. The deficit was too much to overcome for Texas Wesleyan with Lady Rams dropping the set 25-10.
Lynsay Buell connected on 14 kills for the Lady Rams while Katie Rosenbusch followed with 10 kills. Stephanie Dominguez led the team in digs with 12. Angelica Arroyo and Brittany Bryant contributed with 10 digs each.
Stacie Murrah led the way in kills for Tarleton State with 15.
Texas Wesleyan falls to 16-11 on the season and Tarleton State jumps up to 16-5.
The Lady Rams will play their next two games on the road and will begin by travelling to Brownsville, Texas to take on the University of Texas at Brownsville on October 20
th and then Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas on October 24
th.
