Jarvis Christian came into the Sid Richardson Center Saturday morning in high spirits to end their season on a good note as the squad has struggled in finding wins for most of the season. Texas Wesleyan never trailed in the first set of the morning as the Lady Rams played a dominating set leaping out to an 11-6 lead before Jarvis Christian called their first timeout.

Two attack errors by Yessica Marenco and Brittany Moore followed the timeout by Jarvis Christian as Texas Wesleyan continued to play aggressive and win the first set 25-12.

The second set stayed evenly matched between the two teams in the beginning but a 4-0 run by the Lady Rams started to put the game out of reach for the Lady Bulldogs as they were unable to catch up to Texas Wesleyan dropping the second set and eventually the third as the Lady Rams pulled out to a 13-4 lead and winning the last set of the match 25-9.

Jarvis Christian fell to 1-9 in conference play and 1-14 overall on the season. Texas Wesleyan bumped up to 7-3 in the RRAC and 18-13 overall.

In the second match of the day, which would be the third for the Lady Rams in less than 24 hours, pitted Texas Wesleyan against Wiley College as the Lady Wildcats charged in to try to slow Texas Wesleyan’s stride and to prevent the Lady Rams from continuing on to a three-game winning streak.

The Lady Rams fell behind early in the first set 0-4, but were able to answer back by going on a 4-0 run to get back into the game. Errors started to affect the Lady Rams as Wiley College pulled ahead to take away the set 25-13.

Texas Wesleyan was able to win the second set but ended up falling in a tight third set 25-23. A close win in the fourth set pushed the game to five full sets as the Lady Rams came up short in the fifth to drop the match.

Head Coach Christy Clawson is proud of her group for the belief and focus the squad puts forward.

“I felt like we played really consistent,” said Clawson. “I am proud of their drive, belief and faith they have to win. We believe in ourselves and we fought point for point.”
