The Texas Wesleyan women’s basketball team picked up their 11th victory of the season in an overtime thriller on Saturday night, as the Lady Rams (11-3, 7-1 RRAC) defeated Langston 60-58 on the road.
It was a battle right down to the end in Langston, OK, as the Lady Rams played in hostile territory. The Lady Rams hit their free throws at the end to keep the Lady Lions on their heels. With seconds left to play the Lions tried for the win with a three pointer, but missed. Langston got the rebound and tried a desperation shot at the buzzer but that didn’t go in either and Wesleyan escaped with the 60-58 victory in overtime.
Kashyla Fields had 10 points for the Lady Rams. Kayla McCray was a force on the boards, leading all players with 16 rebounds, adding nine points in the effort. Toeisha Cooper put up solid number with seven points and eight boards, and six steals in the contest. Audrianna Simpson had a breakthrough game with 12 points and eight rebounds.
“The girls made just enough plays to win a game that went down to the wire,” said head coach Bill Franey. “It was good to see a number of our girls perform in the clutch.”
