Lady Rams Streak By Stars

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (15-16, 7-5 SAC) notched a 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14) conference win over Oklahoma City University (16-11, 7-5 SAC) on Saturday night.
 
Texas Wesleyan got off to a good start in the first set after an emotionally draining loss last night, grabbing 11-7 lead in the first set on a Katherine Rosenbusch kill. A Kristen Macy kill got the Stars within reach closing gap at 12-10, but Wesleyan kept pushing ahead putting up a five spot on a Meghan Finley kill at 19-14. Courtney Shirey finished off the first set with a kill to give the Rams a 25-14 win.  
 
In the second set, the Stars tried to keep it close tying the game 7-7 with a Kristen Macy kill. Wesleyan made a small 4-0 run capped by a Finley kill to make it an11-7 lead. The Lady Rams dominated from there, forcing errors and playing solid defense. AAlex Hendee made it a 20-13 lead with a kill set by Stephanie Dominguez. Wesleyan took it easy from there taking set two 25-18.
 
It was all Lady Rams early in the third set as Texas Wesleyan took a 6-0 run to start, capped by an AAbigail Zipoy from Dominguez. A Heather Watson service ace that made it a 7-9 game had the Stars knocking on the door, but Texas Wesleyan went on an 8-1 run to put the Rams up 17-8. From there, the Lady Rams finished the set on a 9-3 run to finish of f the Stars 25-14.
 
Zipoy led the Lady Rams with another double-double, notching 10 kills with 14 digs . Rosenbusch added eight kills and  six block assists in the win. Hendee had nine fills and 14 digs for the Lady Rams. Dominguez led all players with 29 assists, while Lauren Hutchinson tallied 18 digs.
 
The Lady Rams play a home conference match against Mid-America Christian University on Tuesday, October 29. First serve is set for 7:00 pm at the Sid Richardson Center.
