OKLAHOMA CITY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (13-12, 5-2 SAC) powered past St. Gregory’s University (5-15, 2-5 SAC) 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-19) in an important road win on Tuesday.
The Lady Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead to start the match as the Cavaliers did not get a great start. St. Gregory’s came back to make it a 19-22 set before
Abigail Zipoy notched a service ace to make it set point before taking the win.
The Lady Rams flexed their muscles in the second set, keeping the Cavaliers on their heels the entire set. Texas Wesleyan spurred an 11-0 run for an 11-1 lead capped by a
Meghan Finley kill. The Rams led by as many as 13 points in the dominant effort, hitting a stout .344 on 13 kills, only two errors, on 32 attempts on the way to a 25-15 second set win.
The third set was a little less lop-sided as
Katherine Rosenbusch kept the Lady Rams up by three with a kill to make it 10-7 early. Wesleyan went on a 7-3 run to make it 20-13, before the Cavaliers battled back to make it a 22-19 game late. St. Gregory’s inconsistent play ended any chance for a fourth set, as errors ended the match with a 25-19 third set win.
Rosenbusch led all players with 11 kills while hitting an impressive .476 (11-1-21).
Stephanie Dominguez kept the offensive attack organized with 19 assists, while
Lauren Hutchinson tallied 20 kills in the win.
The Lady Rams will head to Waxahachie, TX to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Thursday, October 10. That conference match set for a 7:00 pm serve.
